I've been working long weeks and going school full time,
but I'm definitely trying to  become more active in the coming weeks/months. So much so that DA looks like an entirely different website now... haha. Hope everyone is doing great! #tryingoutnewfeatures
I know it seems like I'm rarely active on here. I always begin projects (the occasional sparks of inspiration), and drop them like hot coal. I feel so terrible! The truth is that many things keep coming up in my life, and in the past year I barely even had time to sleep. But I have been on here, rather frequently I might add! but mostly as a lurker, admiring other people's art.

I finally graduated high school! I actually begun classes at my university last week. Yes, I'm doing the summer term. There has been a lot of changes in my life. I moved cities so I could attend university, and I had to take my younger brother with me due to family complications. I've been going everywhere, trying to look for a job, one of the managers I spoke to said he might be able to do something this Thursday. I really hope he can. Otherwise, bills will be the doom of me. But I believe things will work out.

University is great! I'm actually attending the University of Central Florida. I was really scared about what I would choose as a major, as I originally declared Computer Science, but decided that it was a decision I would regret because it's not what I really would like to do. So I ended up changing my major to Emerging Media (character animation) with a minor on Computer Science to learn some programming just in case. I want to do some internships to gain experience on both fields while I am still here. I've been practicing art diligently! And I've been improving steadily. Especially with drawing from memory. But I still have a long way, which is why I'm hoping the college classes will help me even more.

I know Art school would have been smarter, there are not a great many amount of state universities with a prestigious Animation program, but one of our our graduates was a main artist of the animated movie "Frozen". Not to mention, that because of its convenient location, the university has made several partnerships with big names like Disney's Pixar, and EA. So I believe this university gives me the sufficient tools. The rest is up to me. I will work very hard! Becoming an animator is extremely difficult. For some reason, some of the other people that want to get into this major think it's easy. I think they're going to find their mistake really soon.

I've gained several new watchers, and I haven't gotten a chance to thank you! SO THANK YOU! I love all of you, and those who have been following me for a long time (if you're still here!). In order to thank my wonderful watchers, I've come up with a win-win situation.

You see, I need to start selling my art, it is what I want to do for a living after all. But in order to get there, I need more work in my gallery that potential customers can peruse through. So I'm opening up free commissions. I know I did this before, and I did not get around to finish everyone's requests (I will get there, even though I'm awfully late). In part, it was because I was extremely busy, and also because I became discouraged.

But anyway! I'm going to open up 3 slots. Whoever comments here, or sends me a note, the first 3 will get a free drawing of their choice. HOWEVER! You can keep commenting even though the slots are taken up. When I finish the first 3 pictures, there's a good chance I'll keep taking requests, but only by order.

There are a few conditions though:
-If you're a watcher, you'll be the priority. Therefore, if you haven't been a watcher of mine, you still can comment, and you may get a free drawing, but my watchers will get priority.
-I'm up to drawing pretty much anything, as long as it's not clearly offensive towards a certain group.
-You can choose a style (anime, realistic, semi-realistic, etc.) I might be even open to drawing a 1 page comic, but you need to write me a really good draft for me to consider it.
-Challenge me! It will be more practice for me after all, so give me something interesting to do!
-Only one piece per person!
-Up to two characters per drawing.
-If it's within my fandoms, you'd probably see me finish faster (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Naruto, etc.) It doesn't mean I won't draw anything else though.
-Know what you want! Give me a good description and/or references.
-I may not be able to begin the drawings until next week!

Well, what are you waiting for? Comment away!

Adriana,
I hope these past months haven't been to intense for you and that you're making some serious progress on your quest to become a storyboard artist in some kick-ass video games. I know you'll do amazing things in the future and be content with yourself! If you're struggling now, remember that you can make it.

Wow, that was very pleasing to hear. Thanks Mel!
Things have been really crazy for me lately. I work two jobs to cover living expenses and I attend university full time.
I also have a boyfriend now, so I barely have time nowadays. But I'm still working on my art. I did my first sculptures this semester, and thus I have developed a new found love for sculpting. It was a wonderful experience. Art classes at the college level are really serious, at least here where I'm at. The professors are very serious and they are very harsh with their critiques. They are like that to prepare us for the real world. It's a bit stressful, but when I see how people react to my sculptures, it is all very worth it.
I just bought a new laptop today! (I haven't had one since the beginning of the semester) and now I'm so excited because I can start working on my digital art again. I really want to start commissions. Hopefully eventually I can cut back one job so I have more spare time and so that I can dedicate time to my art.
Overall, college has been an amazing experience.
I hope you are also working on your art! We need to meet in the future, and do some sort of collab in the meantime.

Hey, no problem! Ahh, sorry for the late reply.
Wow--two jobs? I have a feeling you're handling them well; either way, good luck.
That's really sweet. I hope he supports you during your hard times and doesn't do you harm.
Awesome!! I hope I get to see your sculptures one day; I bet they look as amazing as your art.
It's good that they're serious and criticise your roughly; it's the only way you'll be able to grow as an artist.
You definitely should start commissions! I think you'll have to show what your current art's like to increase some urges for people to purchase, though.
Do what you feel like is right for your jobs and art. Try to find that good balance.
I have been! I'm currently drawing.
That would be so epic. But before any of that happens, I need to draw to the point that you find it impressive, haha.
